I have a 2014 Silverado  with 162,000 miles.  And it just started  to pop up a code PO6DD engine oil pressure control performance circuit stuck off  and the oil pressure  is running  at 70. And it stays  on v8 and does not change to v4. Once I  clear the code  it drops back down to  40 pounds.  And everything is  fine.  I was told  to oil pump  need to be replaced, I  heard  cylinders 7 and 8 might be stopped up. Can anyone  help  me with this?

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same issue mine is a 2014 v6 with 200,000 miles I replaced the oil pressure solinoid and nothing

I will look  into  it.  But after  about  3 times  of clearing the  code out I  haven't had  any problems since.. is that normal?

Any news? I got a 14 5.3L with 121 on it. Just bought the truck and got a bit up the road when it came on. I read it could be a bad filter so I changed oil and filter about 1K ago and it never came back on. is this a fluke or somthing I should be concerned about. My chevy dealer said maybe a fluke, they did tell me an oil pump is 2400 to replace

Hey, A P06DD is a Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Performance. Lets talk about this for a moment because I have seen this code many of times.

 

It's kinda a weird one so I am thinking of where to start. Lets start with there is a Engine oil pressure control solenoid that is part of the oil pump assembly. It can be changed separate from the oil pump and it is tested by using the following inputs. Engine speed, Engine Temperature, Oil Pressure and Run time. When the solenoid is commanded on, the oil pressure gets lower and when it's commanded off the oil pressure gets higher.

 

 Here is what you're right on. You have oil pressure. That doesn't mean the system is working properly. A lot of the time you will find the solenoid is damaged. Every time I pull an oil pump for this, I remove the Solenoid and the tip normally falls off into 2 pieces. I will show you a picture of it below.

 

So, You can take it somewhere else, and let them tell you what you want to hear (that it's something other than the oil pump pressure solenoid) change it and continue to have the problem. Or you can take it to the dealer and let them replace the pump (which comes with the valve) or tell them to just replace the valve and get the problem fixed.

I have never understood why people take there vehicle somewhere, and when the don't get the answer they want... look for a different answer. If you didn't trust that they were competent enough to fix it, why take it there to begin with?

 

Also, To reply to the above quote... These solenoids... Which are part of the pumps in these vehicles... Fail ALL the time

I would do it myself if it wasn’t for where it it and the extensive process it takes to get the oil pump out, figured if the solenoid is bad and there there might as well change the pump, plus I was told you can’t just get a solenoid . Dealer here gives a 2 year unlimited mile warranty if they change the pump.  
 

I read on here that filters will sometimes cause a code when I pulled the filter that was in it out it was top heavy. Guess I’ll just keep driving it and if it’s a problem with the solenoid I’ll get it fixed.

I agree on the doing it yourself part, believe the member who replied with this does it for a living.

 

If you are good with the price, and their ability to do it, would just bite the bullet and get it done, it will not repair itself unfortunately.

I have a buddy of mine who had the same PO6DD code come up and he had about 150k miles on his 2015 5.3 silverado.  When it popped up he discovered his cooler lines were leaking oil causing the oil pressure to drop so low it threw that code.  He had the cooler lines replaced and the code went away for about 2 months but due to the lines leaking oil for so long it caused a lot of stress on the pump which ended having to be replaced. After all that, he hasn't had that code come back up. Crawl up under your truck and check to see if thats what it could be that I just described.  Hope that helps

No nothing leaking, I believe it was a bad oil filter or possibly wrong oil put in it, changed the oil and filter and the code went away almost imminently put about 1500 miles since then on it and haven't had a problem yet. When I bought the truck it supposedly had an oil change less than 300 miles before I bought it but the oil i drained out of it was dirty. The dealer I took it to said that it could have been a fluke and or lack of maintenance. My thought process is if its not broken don't fix it. Hate to have a 2400 dollar repair for a truck I just bought.

So the oil was literally squirting out of the oil cooler lines, leaving actual puddles of oil on the ground?  Because that's the kind of volume loss it would take to lower the oil pressure.  And he would have been out of oil driving around in minutes.

 

Or did you mean the oil lines were slowly leaking (which is not uncommon for GM), but he just didn't bother checking the oil even semi-regularly, until the oil level got so low that the oil pump couldn't keep up with full pressure?

Sorry for late reply, I was in Memphis working for the week.  But, it was a slow drip.  He told me had just above 4 quarts of oil left in the truck when he was changing his oil.  I remember when he came over to my house and went he left I'd see a little wet spot in my driveway which was oil dripping from those lines.  His oil pressure did go down to 20 or 30 ish but once he started driving it went back up to 40 that it's usually at.  GM is a character when it comes to gauges lol.

Probably just not enough maintenance.  Speaking pf maintenance, get yourself an oil catch can to prevent the carbon buildup in these GDI engines.  I had no idea about GDI until my old Traverse started driving like it had asthma and just ended up selling the thing because it was cost a whole lot more to fix than what it was worth.  I have the JLT 3.0 oil catch can on my silverado and it's amazing of the gung that it filters out.  Your engine will thank you later

Bump. 

I started using a Range and the code cleared itself right up, now I am sending the range back for an update. Unplugged the range 3 days later same code comes back PO6DD. I am gonna caulk it up to my truck hates going into V-4, anyone else ever experience anything like this?

Any advice please... I have a 2016 with only 67k on it. The engine light came on and I went to the local O’Riellys to see what the code was and it was this P06DD. The next day it went away and about a week later it’s back checked the code again. Same thing, I had about 10% left but changed the oil anyways and it’s still there. This time the oil pressure is going up to about 60-65.  Called to schedule something with the dealer but it’s the weekend. Doing a little research and a oil pump is not as expensive as the $2100-$2500 some have suggested it will cost on here. I’m not an expert but I am mechanically inclined.  Any expert advice is very welcomed

    • Fred was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young pullets, and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced. This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing.     • Can someone confirm if the GM order workbench terminal is able to validate a custom build sequence:   1) Initialize the Allocation Base: Open a new vehicle build queue, select the 2026 Chevrolet Suburban 4WD, and pick the High Country (3LZ Preferred Equipment Group).   2) Select the Diesel Powertrain: Go directly to the engine configuration screen and choose RPO code LZ0 (3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel). Ensure it maps to the MHS 10-speed automatic transmission.   3) Deploy the Seating Swap: Navigate to the Interior Options screen and enter RPO code ATT to replace the standard captain's chairs with the power-release 60/40 bench seat. Because you are not trying to force a separate luxury or air-suspension bundle, the standard, premium D07 Fixed Floor Console remains active. The system will accept this change immediately without triggering a warning message.   3)Apply Heavy-Duty Hauling Capability: Input RPO code NHT (Max Trailering Package). The commercial terminal will automatically bundle the required trailering hardware and software modules to support the diesel engine's maximum towing capacity.   5) Layer the Premium Tech and Glass: Separately add code C3U (Panoramic Power Sunroof) and code UKL (Super Cruise) to the order screen.   6) Run the Final Validation: Click the "Validate Order" button at the bottom of the interface.
    • Spent the last hour or 2 googling and reading up on the spacer thing. I don't like the loss of thread contact on the slip on spacers, but it appears you can get "extended" lug nuts that reach into the hole of the wheel to get back the lost threads. Looks like the only true hubcentric slip on spacers are at least .375". I'd want as little as I could get away with and don't want to cause other clearance issues going any thicker. Bora seems to offer what appears to be a well made .375" spacer and extended lug nuts. I searched here and did find a couple threads recommending Bora. But not cheap. By the time I buy spacers and lugs, new TPMS sensors, then pay a tire shop to install the new sensors, I suspect I'm going to be in over $400. Thinking about running out and getting some washers to put behind the wheel to see if .375" is enough to clear calipers, turn lock to lock without rubbing, and to see if the wheels/tires look strange pushed out a little. This would just be to check fitment.
    • Roadmaster makes some quality parts; I have their sway bar. I considered the RAS, but I ended up bagging. I didn't know what kind of ride I'd get with RAS, and the bags have interior jounce bumpers, so I can run 0 pounds pressure. I figured I'd have the best of normal suspension ride with assist on-demand. But it seems you got pretty much the same in one item.
