2020 rear suspension bottoming out HARD.

okay so I have an issue where when I'm driving down the highway (50mph) going uphill and I hit a bump the rear suspension is slamming into the bump stops and then going full rebound and then slamming into the bump stops again I've had the truck feel like the rear tires are leaving the ground twice. Front travel is fine over the bump and not hitting the bump stop.

dealer only is authorized to run a 6-mile loop around the dealership which ironically is completely newly-paved and was unable to replicate the issue.

Side note, I put the trailer on the back of the truck and despite it saying that I can handle 900 pounds of tongue weight I'm very curious how GM actually rated that because with much less tounge weight than that I only had about an inch of travel to the bump stop.

I'm thinking it's going to need shocks. With the torque I can feel the truck squaring when its mataining speed up hill. Normal to need new shocks every 2k miles?

No one has any ideas?

Do you think I could have the dealer replace the rear springs and shocks with the max tow ones??

All leaf springs, none ever behaved like this.

If it can be reproduced by the service people ....  you know that story.

Yeah 6-mile loop is 40 miles an hour and lower and their highway section of 55 is a freshly completely reconstructed section of highway.

I mean it straight up dangerous at 55 miles an hour or the real wheels are in fact leaving the ground.

watching other vehicles and trucks that I'm behind their suspension moves a bit but it's not catapulting their truck through the air.

You could try having someone in the vehicle video an incident if you know where you can repeat it....  then show to service folks.

I'll give that a shot. my dashcam automatically saved a clip, picked up the g-forces but it's pretty hard to tell what's going on.

The tech may only be able to go for a 6 mile drive but that doesnt mean that he or she cant ride with you for a longer ride.

Covid means they are not allowed to.

Although the dealership is kind and courteous they seem to not want to take a look at the vehicle suspension problems. it's scheduled to go in on the 11th after my fifth phone call to them about me complaining about the brakes.

the brakes do work..... Kinda. however if you're lightly slowing down and then go to add more pedal to make it slow down a bit faster nothing happens until you're about a quarter inch from the floor. extremely scary and I've had more than a couple times where I've been within a foot of a car in front of me while trying to stop because of this.

I have now transitioned to simply telling the dealer what they're going to do when I bring the truck in for service. Which I know is not the norm but at this point we're not seeing results.

I've owned the truck almost 2 months now and I barely drive it, I am driving my old beater because at least I know it will stop every time I push on that brake pedal.

They're the only GM dealer within 300 miles.
