Let's see here... now you have 2 conflicting opinions supposedly backed by GM documentation as the 63 is the higher bypass for the newer engines and the stubby old 48 is definitely not.. lol.  This ****** is hilarious...

You can use the 63 on an LS with no detrimental effect... but hey... do whatever you want lol.

You are the only one saying the 63 should be used on a 6.0.

The owners manual and newdudes screen shots both suggest 48.

Which is why I was wondering if you had any documentation to support GM suggesting 63 in place of 48.

If a different brand does your fancy, just slap on 7045 (long) or 7060 (short) wix filter in that sucker.

Pretty much..  or an EA017 Amsoil which I generally use.  People get so bent out of shape over something they don't even understand lol.  It's a can with media in it... GM says not to use one with a bypass spec less than oem... the 63 is not less than the 48.. voila.

You have the internet... do your own research just like I can.  I'm the only one?  From what... 4 people in this thread lol.  Okay.  Google is your friend.  Bobistheoilgiy has lengthy discussions on this.

If you want to check around GM and Delco say the 63 is a replacement for the 48.

I don't see any documentation presented to support this.  Do you have it?  GM sure doesn't.  Like I said, if they wanted the PF-63 to replace the PF-48 they would have done it.  They didn't do it.  Both filters are on the market as they support different engines and pressure specs.

Sure.  I'm good with the 63 thanks.  Done with the thread.

ALL:  AC Delco.com is your friend.  Some parts numbers/specs change over the years.  Much more than they used to.  Sometimes to alleviate known problems.  So go straight to the source to find out what the latest recommendation is.

For instance, the spark plug part number for my Dad's truck has changed 3 times, the wiper blade number has changed 4 times, and the air filter has changed 3 times over the years, and it's a GMT-900, not 40 years old or anything like that.

Or just let the dealer/service dept put whatever they have in stock on there, if you're a 'close-enough is good enough' person.

Personally, we quit having the dealer do routine maintenance when they would leave their 20-point checklist on the passenger seat with all of the little checkmarks checked, and then when I actually took a closer look, the tech had lied, because the oil was 'filled' with only 5 quarts instead of 6, the tie-rod-end zerks were not greased, the washer fluid had not been filled, the wiper blades needed replaced, the tires had not been rotated, and the air filter had not been checked.
