2020 Tahoe noise on start up

Newbie here,just bought a 2020 Tahoe lt 5.3, 2 days ago,have less that 150 miles on it,and when I start it it makes a noise that sounds like a starter being wound or a power steering pump low on fluid. Noise only last 1-2 seconds,but it is worriesome,any body else hear this noise?

I wonder if it's to late to take this thing back?

Could be a sticking starter drive. It's under warranty, have it looked at/fixed.

I take it this is your first GM truck with the newer 5.3 engines.

 

The noise is likely the oil pump and it is a common sound. It's not an issue and it comes from the way the pump is designed.

 

This video has the noise at the end. Lots of other youtube video's about it too.

Thanks Cam,yes, this is my first new GM since 2002. That video does sound kind of like what I was hearing. Thanks again

I hear that noise too.  There are a lot of noises this 5.3 makes that I wasn't accustomed to, but a relative's 2018 Silverado all makes the same noises too.

Normal. My 18 does it too. The truck makes a bunch of noises. There is a rhythmic ticking that comes from the tranny to when idling from a cold start. I have just started to ignore them. If it blows up. Oh well. Back to the dealer it goes.

I have heard the idle ticking too.  Thought it was more motor related than transmission.

You may be right. I remember a while ago someone mentioned it being trans pump. Who knows. When the noise stops or changes I guess that’s when we have a problem.
