Range AFM delete and oil leak

I have a 2017 1500 5.3. I have been running the range to override the AFM for the majority of the life of the truck and I have noticed at 40,000 miles that I have an oil pan gasket leak or that at least appears where the leak is coming from.
the AFM over ride may not be the cause but it seams like low mileage to develop a leak.
has anyone experienced this? Or is this a common problem on this Gen of silverados unrelated to turning off the AFM?

That’s what I figured. I’ve never heard of oil leaking with AFM turned off just possible oil consumption.

Oil leak is not related to AFM over ride, but regarding the ranger, I have heard that using V8 for a long time and then use AFM V8/V4 will cause lifters failure at some point after.
Not sure why or if that was a coincidence, but it happened for a previous generation SUV of GM

2017 6.2 sierra had oil sweating from rear main since new, dealer resealed lower pan, still sweats. Have range afm since new also. 33k miles

So are you saying after using the Range Tech disabler and unplugging it messes up the AFM? I am looking at getting one for my 2018.

It was just a gasket gone bad prematurely. I have had my Range For a couple years and I love it. I have not taken it out for long periods of time just a day or so a few times when I take it to get worked on at the dealership. No issues to this point. When it’s unplugged the AFM works just like it did before the range. I’m not sure about the long term affects if you stop using the range.

I hear if your rig doesn't get driven daily or a few days it drains the battery. Have you heard of this with the Range being installed? I don't drive my truck daily especially with this COVID stuff going on i work from home.

I have let mine sit for days at a time with it plugged in and My rig never shows any sign of draining the battery at all. I have not gone more than a week with it sitting so not sure if it will drain eventually. I saw the warning too but did not think it would and it hasn’t. I have had it plugged in for around 2 years and it occasionally sits a few days, no issues with my battery.

I saw a case of a 2008 Tahoe where the AFM was inactive for about two years with the car running about 155k miles due to sensor problem that causes the AFM to be disabled. Once he fixed the problem, AFM kicked back working again, but after that for a short period of time, lifters gone bad. Carbon deposit was building up for the whole time, and once the AFM worked agin they get stuck.

My suggestions are, if you will disable AFM, then don’t return it back again. The other option, is to clean the engine regularly with flushing and probably (Seafoam/CRC) intake valves cleaner to maintain as much as possible of internal components so if you return AFM, hopefully it will not cause a problem. This is as well comes together with choosing good oil brand and change it regularly.

@ 8:05 he starts talking about carbon deposit that affects the valves and lifters at the same time.
