Really calm the hell down,  no one needs to check their's because they ALL do it! This is as normal on gm trucks as performing an oil change.

I would say a good power washing then some spray on rust reformer then a coat of spray on bed liner would help greatly.

Remove bed, wire wheel the frame, 2 or 3 coats of POR15. Worked really well on my 2006.

Guy needs to wash his damn truck. Mine’s older with double the winters under it, and it still looks more or less like new underneath. 
 

 

I know you guys get it worse up there but still looks at least partially like a maintenance issue to me. The wax isn’t something you can just ignore and never clean or touch up. Maybe he needs to consider some oil undercoating or similar because redoing the wax will net the same result under that type of care and use.
