Started noticing after my truck has sat for a few hours, after I back up out of my driveway or space at work, when I shift to drive I get a little pause and a jump when I hit the gas.  It seems like it struggles or the gear hasn't been completely set before moving forward.  Anyone else have this issue or know what it could be?

Mine does it from time to time. I just wait a sec and let it engage to drive before I accelerate. That keeps it from jerking.

this is good information, thanks for sharing...I have experienced this also...but more so, I will experience a lag when going from a dead stop, putting truck into reverse and it almost seems like the clutch isnt engageing or something...because it wont go anywhere for a second...then i have to increase the rpms and it doesn't cluck, but obviously takes off a little quicker than i would like since the rpms are higher, once it catches...

any thoughts?

if it's on first startup it takes about 30 seconds to a full minute for the fluid to fully circulate and refill any spots that is drained out of since it was last running.

other than that if you're on a incline the truck does have the ability to hold the brakes. To get it moving you do have to push on the pedal.

Best suggestion for you is extreme patience, if you just lightly push the pedal it will release the brakes.

Mine does this always. Going in next week. They said they will do a software update.

Same here, I was parallel parking on an incline street. Reverse. Put truck into D, apply throttle, nothing happens. I look down to double check I didn’t accidentally put it in neutral. SLAM! My wife and I both thought we got rear ended that’s how hard the truck jerked. Was just glad I wasn’t too close to the car in front or I could’ve seriously hit them. Add that to a whole slew of other problems I’ve had with my 19 TB :(

Having the same issue with my 19. Doesn't do it every time but usually when you least expect it or shift quickly from reverse to drive. Funny my 07 and 15 didn't have this problem, why can't GM figure this out on a 19?

Yes, my 2020 8-speed does this. It's super annoying for a brand new truck to not be able to shift correctly. I'm sure GM has known about this for quite some time but chooses to ignore it.

Once a class action lawsuit is filed they can't risk it.

any design changes will be used against them in court and they lose millions.

So isn't there a fix? One posted a TSB as a fix and another a software update.

that TSB is telling dealers to tell the consumer to make sure they come to a complete stop otherwise this behavior will continue to happen. (Basically GM saying we programmed it this way on purpose)

The software update just forces the engine to idle down during warm-up. So the first gear selection doesn't engage quite so abruptly. (Meaning if it's warming up on a cold day at 1200 RPM when you get in push the brake hit the start button it'll idle down to 6 or 700)

These are all 8 speeds having this issue, right?  Any 2020 doing this?

I have an eight speed and I’ve been having the problem. My dealership says there’s nothing wrong with it and they don’t know of any issues. Yet we see the issue posted but yet there’s no solution.
