Glad to see this thread as I tow a lot and also load ATVs in the bed. Just upgraded a week ago to a Sierra from an F150. Re: the ball though... I usually pull mine out when not towing and leave it in the trailer. Minimizes risk of damage to the MultiPro, but also prevents rust in the receiver over time. Nice truck!

Glad to see this issue hasnt gone unnoticed. Ill open the inner gate for multiple reasons and having to close it to drop the maingate is almost canceling out the use of it. I need to open the tonneau cover, close the inner gate if theres no lumber or load (which in that case it becomes shoulder day). Once i get the inner gate up i can finally open the main gate. Hitch or not just a poor design. Set it up where a few extra presses on the maingate button and it will open is all that needs done. Sure i could unload whatever is resting on the gate but whos to say im unloading whats in the truck and not loading more in.... for the price of the gate and the flimsyness of the plastic not sure im sold. Im 39 and each day loving the steps more and more though. Kicker should have been included for the price as well.
