I 'm a S&W fan. Like my M&P 9 mm compact. Are you going to Conceal Carry? Guns can be like fishing, never enough lures.

Here are 163 9 mm choices.

:)

You bet I will.  going to get a lot of training but you bet i will.

How about double action semi-automatics?  Thoughts/suggestions?

I have a S&W for the house protection. My brother in law is big into guns he has two large gun safes full. His carry is a small revolver. It is carried in a wallet looking holder in his pocket. His vehicles have hidden holders under the seat.

380 would be my guess Karnut. Ruger makes a popular model.

That comes down to personal preference.  Most double action semi autos are DA/SA.  So first shot is double action (long trigger pull) and then it's single action (shorter pull) there after.  There are probably some that are double action only but I can't think of any off hand.  Having shot and carried DAO, DA/SA, and striker fired revolvers and semi automatics the trigger usually doesn't bother me.  Just practice to get used to whatever it is you are using.

Well I'll be pulling the trigger (no pun intended, well maybe a little) on a slightly used S&W M&P Shield 45 with night sights and a few extra mags.  Should be a nice starter gun for me for now.  I got to toy around with my neighbors and it felt really good and shot good.  Was very comfortable for me.

Looking for suggestions on gun safes and trigger guards.  The safe doesn't need to be very big, it's just going to hold this gun for now and maybe one or two more handguns.

Thoughts?

Very good choice. Great shooting gun and easy carry .45. Trigger guard and safes are another story. You’ll got a lot of opinions on having/not having and why. If it’s for the kids safety a simple sentry safe that has a fire proof rating is fine in my opinion. You could bolt them down to make it a bit harder for crooks.

Thanks everyone.  Met the seller today at a gun store to do the transfer requirements/background check and such.  The gun store holds onto the gun until state background check comes back and once it comes back (clean) I get to go pick it up.   They are running about 2-3 business days on the checks so hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday.

What are your suggestions regarding ammo purchasing?  Best sources?

Right now unfortunately it's whatever you find in stock for whatever asinine prices you can find. Rona plus election year is resulting in prices 2-4x what they were at the beginning of the year. The ones that didn't increase are sold out in minutes. Gunbot.net, ammoengine.com, gun.deals, https://www.reddit.com/r/gundeals/new.

Thanks.  Picked up the gun today and a box of Fiocchi 45 Auto 230 GR FMJ to use at the indoor range.  (Fire restrictions in place, no outdoor target practice)
