so i replaced the starter on my 93 Chevy 1500 with the 5.7l. and the fly wheel turns but the engine doesn't crank over. i'm at a loss cause i don't why that is happening. i don't think it would be the timing chain and gears. cause thats all on the front. ant insight would be helpful and appreciated.

was it running ok prior to not starting, or is this a new to you truck?

manual or automatic?

 

If it's automatic, and you have verified that the flywheel does spin, but the front of the crankshaft doesn't, then I would first check if the flexplate has broken.  It can break around where it bolts to the crankshaft,
