It's also entirely possible that GM was having issues replacing faulty rear buttons and just decided they weren't needed and you could configure the front button to unlock all the doors.

When I was a Senior in High School my daily driver was a '57 Chevy and I know this sounds crazy, but you had to actually stick the key into the door and turn it 90 degrees to unlock your car!

Times were tough back then!

A friend had a '57 four door hardtop and to unlock the back door you had to reach around in the open front door and pull the button up!

By the end of the day, you were totally exhausted.

Sarcasm.

No way!  You're pulling our leg, right?

If that were the case, they would have removed them from the Sierra too. They only removed them from Silverados. In other words, GM is saying: "You want door lock buttons on your rear doors? You can buy the more expensive truck."

If that were the case, they'd stop installing sliding rear windows and only provide solid glass ?

I know this is an older thread - I bought a 2023 Sierra 1500 Denali and was SHOCKED to realize that there isn't a button on the back doors.  My buddy who has a 2019 DOES have buttons on his.  I am curious if the wiring harness is there and I could swap out the door handles.  Anyone dug in to these trucks to find out? Thanks!

GM doubles down on stupid so often now that eventually it's going affect sales.  My 2019 LTZ has buttons on all four doors and the rear buttons get used all the time.  That new F-150 with the 12 inch infotainment screen in the center stack is looking better and better.  If only it had something like the 6.2L.

The F150 doesn't have rear door handle lock/unlock either. Ford has eliminated a lot of features on the 2023's because of major chip shortages. The 2023 GMC interior I have blows away the 2021 F150 Platinum 4X4 Powerboost I owned.

Well I had a Ford F150 Lightning and it was a lemon.  I bought the Denali and I liked the Ford interior 100x better.  The back seat was far larger, the seats are much wider, and the storage under the back seat was easily 2x larger.

To me, the ford interior was much nicer.  Also my phone was a my key and I had no problem locking and unlocking because I did have buttons on the back door handles.  Even the crappy explorer base model loaner I had, had the buttons on the back door handles.
