Hi, just recelty purchased a 2020 gmc sierra 1500 elevation and am now beginning the search for winter tires. I have the old set off my 2016 colorado which are a 245/70/R17 110s. Now i know the rims for the colorado will not fit the sierra but could I use the 245/70/R17 tire or is it too small?
Thanks

245, yea that was the standard size for years.

If your OEM size is 255/70R17 the change is like 1 mph. If it is other use the link below to compare.

I just replaced my 255R70/17 with 265R65/17 which is almost identical to the 245R70/17 and it corrected a slow speedometer to accurate. Yea my truck ins't a T1 but......

My OEM is 275/60/20 but for my winter tires im going to drop it to a 17 inch rim. 245 is no longer listed as a standard size for the new 2020s so that why i was asking. If i can avoid spending on new tires and just buy the rims it would help.

Okay so did you use the link? That's a 7% plus difference Enough to cause problems unless you correct the PCM for it.

Yea, a set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde Plus II 265/65R17. Retired the Bridgestone Duller 684 II HT 255/70R17 after 126,000 very good miles. I had enough legal tread for maybe another 25 K but they were dated out and starting to show some small cracks between treads. A great tire though. I'd buy them again if the price came down some.
