First post, Apologies if this is duplicated elsewhere (I didn't see one on my search)

So my truck has some odd electronics issues, intermittent all of them, and none really what I would call terrible. But when you think about all of them together, it gives me pause for concern.
Things like:

  • The object avoidance alerts constantly beeping, when nothing is in front or behind the vehicle. When that happens, I shut the engine off, wait a few secs, start up again, all good.
  • I have a gravel driveway, and it seems to detect the gravel as an obstruction sometimes.
  • The retractable running boards - sometimes they don't retract. They always do when I put the vehicle in drive, but when parked, engine off, they will just randomly decide not to retract.
  • Slow reaction on the radio when changing stations from the steering wheel controls.
  • Lane keeping just shuts off randomly. (Nevermind that it barely works when its on - I dont really depend on it, but it's annoying to have a feature that doesn't work).

Like I said, I can live with all of these. I take it to the dealer and of course they cant replicate the problem. For what a truck like this costs, this seems to be kind of shoddy.

Did I get a lemon, or does this sound familiar to anyone else.

How old is the battery in the truck?

Have you looked at "ground issues"? Several video's on youtube concerning electronic issues due to bad grounds. Here's one to watch. Also saw some having an electric steering issue. Good luck & Keep us posted on what you find.

Hey Tony,

I’ve owned an 18’ Denali Ultimate with the 6.2, for about 14 months now since it was new(July 2019)and haven’t really experienced any of the issues you’re dealing with.  The only time the radio is slow to change is when I’m playing music through my IPhone saved music.  Other than that the radio is fairly quick to change stations.  The retractable running boards have been great, no problems whatsoever even in slushy ice  conditions.  The object avoidance, parking sensors did give me a lot of issues whenever they’d get snow or ice around them.  The message would come up on the information cluster saying “ park assist disabled “.  The lane departure or lane keeping device works awesome, but kinda freaked me out on the test drive when my wife and I took the truck out at dealership for the first time.  Thought an alien took the wheel....lol.

Hope you get some help at the dealership.  Good luck...

Our trucks with all the gadgets and gizmos are very fussy when the battery is low on voltage or starts to go out.  Expect about 3-4 years life out of batteries from 2014 vehicles.  EVEN IF battery testing says the battery is ok.

Check your battery and then check all your grounds.  If that still doesn't help, replace the negative battery cable.  I was having an issue where my truck would just randomly shut off for no apparent reason.  After replacing my negative battery cable the issue hasn't happened again for months.  Not sure if its an issue with the cable itself or the sensor for the cable but these negative battery cables seem to have some quality issues.

Thanks for all the replies - I suspect its a battery issue. I'm starting to get some slow or hard starting now that cooler weather has arrived. The battery is original, so its been in there 3 years. Going to replace it this weekend.

    • Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?
    • Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.
    • Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.
    • I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
    • Just wanted to get a idea of how many of you still have problems with your radio cutting out during the first few minutes of driving, my 2024 GMC Sierra still does this after a little over 2 years of complaining to my dealer about it, and OTA updates no longer complete, the check for updates in settings is greyed out for the second time while trying to install a update, my dealer took about a week to play around with it the first time this happened, and somehow got the check for updates to work, even though it would always show system is up to date when I knew it wasn't, now again 1 month later its greyed out again when the OTA update N25-F163BU tried to install, which ironically is the update to help with reliability of future updates.
