2001 Silverado 1500 5.3

Hello, Question , Does my 2001 Silverado 1500 5.3 have traction control ? I want to replace the " Throttle Position Sensor " and I'm being asked if my truck has traction control ?Thanks

For things like this, I would suggest either decoding the rpo codes on the sticker in your glovebox, or getting the build sheet for your vehicle from gm (from a dealer, or you can email gm), that will tell you all the options/configurations of your truck.

 

I keep the decoded list on my phone, so when I need to get parts, I have the correct info handy (for example of other parts where you need this info, transmission lines, brake parts, alternator)

Was Stabilitrak an option on GMT-800 trucks? I didn't think it was

I had a fully loaded at the time 2002 LT Silverado and it didn't have traction control.

Yeah, my understanding is that Stabilitrak first appeared on Silverados in 2007 with the GMT900 trucks.

Traction control was available as early as 2001 or 2002 in the Silverado/Sierra trucks. It was not a real popular option.

 

It would have a button like this and usually was installed on 2WD vehicles and maybe some 4WD in the SUV's.

 

As said above, stabilitrak came in the GMT-900's.
