Performance programmer for 2018 Silverado

I have a 2018 Silverado 5.3 that I'm considering getting a performance programmer for.  I've never used one before and wanted to know if a dealer tech would notice any programming changes to the computer even after restoring factory settings prior to taking it to the dealer for any service.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, they would notice it if they had a reason to look for it. Like a warranty claim type thing. Any time the computer is flashed there will be a date stamp in the memory of that happening.

I am using Trifecta's Elite tune and have had it installed since my 2018 only had 1000 miles on it.  My truck has only been to the dealership twice for it's first 2 old changes, and nothing was said about my tune.  It is only a 20 minute process to reinstall the factory tune.

 

I thought Trifecta used to advertise that their tune was undetectable when you uninstall it, but I no longer see that on their website.  I do recall seeing something about that when I installed my most current tune, during the install setup, but I don't remember for sure.

 

I did have the Trifecta Elite tune on my 2015 Canyon and the dealership never said anything about it.  They were more focused on my Catch Can saying that voids my warranty.

I have a Diablosport Intune 3 that I just took off my 18 Silverado.  I'll sell it for $200, could meat you in Hillsdale and show you how to use it.

The reason they didn't say anything is because it wasn't for warranty work. Only a warranty job that is powertrain related would need them to look at the calibration and from there they could deny the claim because it was tampered with. It's a can of worms sometimes with what requires the dealership to look for that stuff but if you want to be cautious, don't tune it until 5 years or 60,000 miles.

is the drive shaft designed to go beyond that?    when it lets go you'll need a new fuel tank, floor  board, and maybe  the lower side of the bed will all get whiped by the shaft when/if it fails

Don't really know, it held up plenty of times over 98mph though.

      Here's the second UOA on my 22 Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This has 5k miles on AMSOIL Signature Series DEO 5w-40. The first one was dealer installed oil, no clue what it was, the second is what AMSOIL recommended, European FS 5w-40, Most of the Ecodiesel world is showing great results using the European MS 5w-40, I figured I would see how the DEO works. This is using an Ecoguard oil filter. It's my understanding this engine likes to shed aluminum.  We will see. So far I don't think this is too bad.

      I'm surprised nobody seems to offer a solution like the start/stop device I put in my new truck. Remembers my setting when shutdown. And while it still starts up in start/stop, it stores/evaluates what mode it was in when shut down and will change it whithin a second or 2 of startup. It'd be nice to have something like that for the DRLs.

      2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!

      I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.
