steering wheel installation

Recommended Posts

IIRC, you need

-steering wheel with SWC

-a clockspring for SWC

-a steering column harness with SWC

-the harness connecting the bcm to the steering column harness is missing some wires for SWC, it's easiest to add those pins/wires to the harness rather than replacing the harness itself

-get a dealer/mechanic shop/buy a tech ii w programming ability and figure it out yourself, and get the swc option added to the configuration for your truck, then reprogram your truck with the new programming (at least the instrument panel gets reprogrammed, might also be the bcm)

I looked at doing this some years ago, the physical hardware isn't a big deal, but couldn't find a dealer that would phone gm to get the option added to the truck and then reprogram it.
