So to start off I have a 2017 Silverado 1500 crew cab short box. Has about 44k in miles

new torque converter at 27k.

just recently put a leveling kit on 2in in fron and 2 in the rear with 285/65/18 fallen wild peaks with .25in spacers on all 4 tires. Also put k&n CAI and a rough country dual exhaust. And a range afm delete. And I’m very happy with everything I crept now with the heavier tires it’s quite sluggish than before.

I just ordered the super chip flashpaq thing and I don’t wanna do anything custom or extreme but I want to wake the beast up some.

does anyone have any experience with this tuner? I’m not trying to be a corvette n a drag strip but just want to open it up some and hopefully somehow help with the crappy shifting.

eith the afm delete alone helped tremendously.

and also is it possible to still use the range device if I don’t have the tuner turn it off?

I’m very new to tuning etc so I’m not trying to get to crazy without guidance.

Being familiar with hand held tuning up to my 2014 truck. I did a write up about it in the tune section years ago on this website. Hand held tuners were good at shift firmness through TM reduction. Raising shift points and RPM. And eliminating cylinder deactivation. Following the instructions were easy through out the brand’s. Seat of the pants satisfaction made it worth the money to me. After 2014 couldn’t tell you. Although It’s seems if memory serves. Transmission tuning became non existent by your model year. Ifs that’s the case I wouldn’t waste my money. That’s half the game. And where most of the feel lies.

If the transmission is a 6 speed, you can tune it.

The 8 speeds you can not because it requires a TCM unlock service and Superchips doesn't do any of that stuff. You'd need to use HP Tuners to tune the transmission on an 8 speed truck.

I run that tuner on my lifted truck. 2018 5.3 6 speed 3.42 9" lift 37" tires.
Like Cam said 6 speeds are tunable , 8 speed not.
So in a nutshell don't expect miracles. I does what it says it does though.
It will give you maybe 15 hp tops, a little more with a cat back exhaust. But that don't happen until you get up towards 3500-4000 rpm. It is noticable but not enough to matter really.
It will tighten up the shifts too but you need to go to the highest setting. Shifts happen at a higher speed in each gear.
AFM on or off whatever you want.
Turn up idle. Yes.
Speedometer correction is easy.
I'm running the Tow mode(91 octane) right now and I got it dialed in . Took many tries to get it where I wanted.
Its not the easiest to get it ready to use . You have to download the programming on a laptop and pay them an extra $40 to unlock your ECU.
The rest is easy.
You can PM me when you get it if you need any help.
