Just picked up my new 2500hd LT. I love it. Except for one thing....

I put a deposit on the truck based on the online window sticker from GM. I didn’t care about driving it, I’ve bought several new GM trucks through the years and because of low supply I found the package I wanted and popped for it.

Problem is, the online window sticker said it had LED headlights. I actually passed on a new 2020 the month before because it had halogen. On my way home I realized it had halogen. Window sticker in truck says it’s halogen. Same price...  I brought it to the attention of the dealership. They said they are waiting on GM to respond. What do you think will/ should happen?

Did you check to make sure the VIN on that dealer uploaded window stick is the same on the actual truck? It’s just some IT guy doing that and mistakes happen. If it is, there had to be a monetary value to getting LED over halogen so GM or the dealer have to make you whole. I would think it your option to return it too based off false advertising, as you put deposit and purchased base off what you thought to be accurate information about the truck from the manufacturer/dealer.

Well, its got halogens per the VIN.  And correct per LT trim level.  The LED are optional and only part of Z71 Sport, Z71 Sport Chrome and Midnight editions on the LT trim.

Can't always trust those standard equipment lists on the dealer sites.  Could be uploaded wrong or incorrect.

Nothing GM can do here.  Maybe a "sorry" accessories voucher or something.  But that's about it.

EDIT:  I just checked two inbound trucks to us.  The "standard equipment" section has the same headlight error, so its an issue on GM and the US dealership websites where they have a typo in there.

Yeah Vin was right. Dealership had 8 trucks online with the same trim. If they’ll just send me the lights I’ll put them in. I think that’s fair.

Yeah, I doubt anything comes of it but i also feel If they put it online for sale with the VIN, it should be right.

I 100% agree. Same but different situation with a a trip to Maui I just had to cancel. The place we were gonna stay put, on their website, the wrong info about the cancellation policy. Took a few calls, but I was finally able to get them to realize it’s not my fault as the consumer if they put wrong info out there, they have to honor. Glad I ptintered it before they changed it like you did. Maybe if you put that whole window sticker up for us to see and make sure your reading correctly.

I would say, for some reason Chevy is putting that on all their window stickers, misleading people. Because this says right on their website, not available..

interesting since mine has a Power Up and down tailgate. lol. I don't think it was malicious in anyway. I think it its just an error. It just sucks because I had the LEDs on my '20 RST 3.0 and loved them. Probably would have just gotten a different truck if I had known.

You can always try and make a case with the dealer/Chevy. Not loosing a customer just frustrated over misleading info..

Looking at the side by side comparison, I would question whether those are 2020 or 2021 models. My understanding is that the LED headlights were not available for 2020 LT models but became available on 2021 models as part of the Z71 packages mentioned previously.

Order guides for 20 and 21 2500 show that  for 21 2500 halogena standard on LT, LED optional as below:

Headlamps, LED reflector (high intensity) with LED signature curtain Daytime Running Lamps
1 -  Included and only available with (WJP) Midnight Edition, (WEA) Z71 Sport Edition, (WBL) Z71 Chrome Sport Edition.

As Rozz552 suggested,  for 2020 2500 --   LED's not available on LT

(they were standard on LTZ and HC, not available on other trims)

I just swapped out the bulbs, I know it’s not the point or the same but I like mine.

What bulbs did you use? I’m interested in doing the same.

    • Even tougher is the 5.0 / 302. That's what this one has.    https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   https://postimg.cc/4n3F3yzY   Just realized I had the airbox removed in the engine pic, lol.
    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
