Luckyfd, Thank you for the update.

Absolutely. I think the DFM vs AFM is apples to oranges. The reviews I read prior to purchasing was all AFM reviews. Maybe they really improved the DFM? Again there’s still more driving to be done...

I'd like to make a OBD splitter and hookup my reader to see what the cylinders and other parameters are really doing with it plugged in and not plugged in.  If I get a chance to do that i'll post the results.

I am very curious about what you discover if you do this.

Update for the day... today on a couple occasions (turning corners) I gave it a little extra throttle and it doesn't have that pause/delay  before it gets moving. It was instant. I didn’t notice the “sensitive “ throttle on the freeway, in fact it ran pretty good. I’m still waiting to be blown away...maybe My expectations are too high? There’s an obvious pause/delay when shifting or “flooring it” that’s what I want gone. One more day of regular driving then I’ll mess with tow, sport and really open it up.

I had the Range box from 2012 5.3 AFM Sierra updated for my 2019 5.3 DFM Sierra. The DFM is much less noticeable when activated than AFM is. This difference alone translates to a harder time detecting the improvement the Range box makes. It is most noticeable to me in throttle response and in exhaust tone. (Aftermarket system) To me it also seems to shift better. An added bonus for those of you in colder climates is a quicker time to full operating temperature.

So it flashes so quick I believe it’s 7.1 or 8.1 I will check again tomorrow to get it for sure. I understand the exhaust sound was horrible with the DFM/AFM. Do you have AFM or DFM? also does your auto start/stop indicator light on the switch stay on? I didn’t notice any shift difference but another thing to note is I’m kinda heavy on the throttle... so maybe it’s always bumping  back to 8 cyl? Idk... I paid $195 I believe and I wasn’t looking for HP gains I was really interested in preserving the engine life and getting rid of the lag time while accelerating. I do have a hikeit throttle controller also.

I purchased this autostopeliminator for my

2019 RST and it works flawlessly. I installed it and when I start my truck it automatically turns off Auto Stop without me doing anything it tells me on the dash that it is disabled and stays that way unless I turn it back on.

it remembers your last setting until you change it.

it can be ran with range module.

I only purchased the Disabler to run 8cyl full time. Pushing the auto start/button never bothered me.

I’m going to return it. I’m sorry but i don’t notice a difference. If you decide to buy one I hope it works better for you but for $194 it’s just not worth it to me. I ran it in sport, tow while towing, in town, freeway and I just can’t tell a major difference.

I’ve seen several comments about the Auto-Stop light not turning off. From how my other devices work on other brands, that is not how it functions and shouldn’t expect the light to turn off.
What they usually do is it “trick” the truck into thinking it is not in the correct state to allow Auto-Stop. For example:
- not warmed up to temp threshold,
- heavy accessory load,
- hood opened before start,
-etc.

The light doesn’t have to turn off. The Auto-Stop system is still running, just not allowed to activate. (Except in whatever scenario they’re missing because it’s only 99%).

I’ve been waiting for a Range Disabler to come up for my 2020 5.3L 10 speed. When I originally asked about the 10speeds - bc the 6.2L 10 speed says not compatible - I was told the 5.3L 10sp aren’t either. I see now that there has been a filter added that actually says the 5.3L do work. Probably just had a rep that didn’t know, because the compatibility note hasn’t changed.

Correct. It did disable the auto start/stop. I hope it works for you. It just didn’t do anything that impressed me.

I’ll be interested in how it handles my aftermarket exhaust specifically.

I'm looking to sell my Range Technology DFM/AFM Disabler Blue. Before I put it on eBay, anyone interested in it for $150? Works flawlessly.
