My 2021 Chevy Suburban has an SD memory slot in the center console.

There is no documentation for it.

What is it for?

Also, the owner's manual does talk about using USB devices for playing music through the radio.

However, when I plug in USB devices (e.g. USB flash drive) with music, nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong?

It's for the navigation to help load maps. I wouldn't remove it, I made that mistake in my 2021 Denali and got a pop-up error for weeks afterwards when trying to load maps that finally went away. So yea, I'd let it be unless you need to manually update the map software which I think is when you'd only have to remove it. Hope this helps
