don’t think it gets real wet in that location.

Yeah honestly i dont see how it would help or hurt at all with the plug in or out. The instructions dont say what they are thinking, just that its optional. The truck gets plenty of air from the stock location, and the filter is huge. I only left it out in hopes it was louder that way.

Probably slim to none. The vast majority of the heat from the engine is on the passenger side and the air forced through the area will be coming directly from the front of the truck.

Both offer similar performance characteristics, so the decision comes down to would you rather throw away the filter or clean it.

Always wanted a filter you could just throw away without sacrificing performance? S&B's new Dry Filter is the answer. Airflow comparable to cotton filters. Same great protection S&B is known for. Lasts up to 30,000 miles on the highway. Extend the life of the filter using compressed air.   Personally I got the dry as it's the only one in stock right now

Did you call and they tell you it was in stock? Their website shows both on backorder.

Weird.. I purchased on Saturday so I either got the last one or it went out of stock shortly after

Dang, I usually look a couple times a day. They've showed out of stock since they started shipping them on day 2.

 

Have you gotten a shipping notification yet? They can still be ordered now even though they are backordered.

Warmer day update. Its in the 60s here now and its still nice and loud, i know on previous vehicles ive had turbos get a lot louder in the cold. Averaging around 21mpg in 100% city driving.

Just got a email with tracking number this evening saying my backordered dry element style shipped today.

 

Should be waiting at the house before I return.

I ordered mine last night from S&B. They showed the dry element in stock so that's what I ordered as well.
