CAI hack thoughts?

So I installed the rotofab CAI. Prior to the install I read every thread on here and watched quite a few vids. Came across different brand systems and even seen the stillen insert. Which got me thinking, essentially the 19-21 has a cai to a degree but its getting the air that travel up past the radiator into the tube under the Cowell. I also noticed the top row of the front grill is solid which is where the intake tube. Any one have a thought of either drilling put holes to let " real cold air" thru or using a dremel to cut out the solid backing and add a mesh to stop larger debri from flying in.

I have a dashawk scan tool, etc that can read sensors including intake air temperature.  I was surprised that the stock intake that sucks air so close to the radiator is very efficient in keeping intake air very close to ambient air temp.

Is this the same setup for gassers and diesels?

I believe the diesel cowel is different

Diesel has the same air path up to the air box.

This, only difference i see is the diesel has the grill shutters. Gas doesnt correct?

Seems some gassers also have them. There's at least one guy with a 6.2 with the grill shutters in that thread

I have a 2020 5.3 with grill shutters if that helps clarify anything.

my 2020 6.2 has the shutters too

I installed the S&B kit on mine. I went with theirs, because besides drawing air from the stock intake area, it draws from the drivers side fender from the top, and lower side of it's airbox (along the fender). My 2019 6.2 has the shutters also, they aren't unique to the diesels.
