Biggest truck buying regret?

 I no longer benefit from the versatility of a pickup so I refer to my truck as a poor man's Suburban.  My wife also thought  a Suburban would be easier to drive and we could save money as a one vehicle couple.  I took her Sunday shopping at our local GM dealership last week.   When we got back into the truck after kicking some tires, she said, "You really like this truck and it is nice, you should keep it".  She saw that the business part of the Yukon/Tahoe is very similar to the pickup.  The significant difference is the sticker price.  A Suburban/Yukon XL is the ultimate vehicle for a family if finances allow.  We purchased a new '86 when  we had a young family.  It was a very happy day when we sold the Suburban and bought a mini-van for family and a pickup truck for everything else!  FWIW, I've had several extended and/or CrewCab pickups.  I always have a secure aluminum box behind the cab that serves as a large trunk. It keeps luggage dry secure and out of the cab!  It is also light and easy to remove if required. 
I also have a cap/canopy now but that is to save me climbing in and out of the back of the truck.  My climbers are worn out!

So your regret is not buying a suburban, because it can fit all the people AND the cargo on your trips. Which your truck could also do with a cap. But you won’t put a cap on your bed because you have a bar with lights on it. Even though if you bought the suburban, the light bar bed thing is not even an option.

 

I’m just trying to wrap my head around this....

 

Now here’s the issue. Now it’s clear you have an irrational love for your marty mcfly light bar, which is fine. Everybody can love whatever they want. Where the confusion sets in, is that the vehicle you regret not buying instead, because of it’s passenger and cargo hauling capability, can effectively be duplicated by removing the marty mcfly light bar.

 

So it seems to me, that you need to either ditch marty mcfly, or not state that you regret buying the suburban for it’s hauling capability. Because the two loves contradict each other.

 

also pretty sure a suburban can go anywhere our pickups go.

 

off road capability =
-number of tires driven

-ground clearance

-tire size/tread

-physical size of vehicle

My wife can’t drive a truck, long story. Buts that’s ok. She drives a full size sports sedan. Best of both worlds.

If it‘s not a yukon xl she has a point.

 

i went from a tahoe to a pickup

things a tahoe can do that my pickup can’t

-pull into a parking space like a normal person

-fit into a normal garage, and then walk around it

-do a u-turn on most streets

-be able to take a 90 degree right turn like a normal person without running over the curb


it is astonishing the difference in maneuverability from what, like 12-14”?

 

after making the transition, I think people who opt for a crew cab standard bed are bonkers. Or maybe they live in the country where it’s not a huge deal

No regrets at all. Then again...she is my first.

IF she blew up today I'm out nothing and had a great experience.

 

Seriously doubt there will be a second new truck.

They all have 2 many doors.

Somebody watches too much Back To The Future.  McFly had a Toyota.  And, yes, you aren't seeing the whole picture.  Wife, dog, and 3 kids.  Somebody needs to sit in the 3rd row.  Dog can have front seat while my wife sits in the 2nd row, lol.  One seat up in the 3rd row would still be more available space for luggage than my wife's 2017 Traverse.  If I had a Suburban I'd likely not do as much camping/offroading since that's a pavement queen vehicle.  Or, the wife would make us go glamping.

      Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.

      The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.

      Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.

      I can't believe that could possibly be the case. It should be 36mo/100k miles from installation. Then again, it also seems like since a dealership installed it, it'd all be in the system and you wouldn't need to worry about registering, either. Shows you what I know. 😄 Hope this one outlives the warranty!
