PARK ASSIST WIRE EXTENSION to the BULL BAR

I have a 2019 RST Silverado 1500 and since I installed my bull bar, my park assist alarms all the time. I've tried adjusting the angle and height of the bull bar but had no success. I can turn turn the alarm off but I'd prefer to have it work properly. I've looked everywhere for a piggyback or extension wire harness so I can move the sensors into the bull bar. If anyone has a fix or knows where I can find the wire extension I'd appreciate it.  AND if there's already a post on this or I put this in the wrong location, please be easy on me. I tried to find information on this issue but without any luck.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it isn't that simple.  The system would likely need to be reprogrammed (ie: calibrated) to know that the sensors were moved.  Likely something that you would never get a dealership to perform.

What Jim said it likely true but then again.......

 

If you made cut outs in the bull bar to house the sensors, I don't see what calibration would be needed.  They will be exactly the distance out that the bull bar is, making IT your first point of contact.  I'd imagine you could get away with just moving the two located behind the bar?

Where did you get that bar/light?  Looks sweet and I don't have sensors to worry about

The bull bar is a TYGER textured black and I tried to find the light bar but I couldn't. It's 20" 9D spot light, not a flood light. Both were purchased on Ebay.   I recently had my truck in for an oil change at my local dealership and was telling the service manager that I was looking to put the sensors in the bull bar. He said that they had recently done it but he wasn't sure where they got it from.  I know GM doesn't list it.  I might have to hit him up again and see where they ordered it from.

I'm no expert, but I disagree with the comments about a recalibration being needed. Iirc, the sensors emit radar to detect distance. A simple relocation of the sensor is all you need. If I was closer I'd take a look at the wiring and see if I could do this job for you, including making a harness extension. With ordering parts and making a harness, it would probably take me a week. I don't have front parking sensors on my truck because I have tow mirrors, therefore I'm useless without something to touch. A company by the name of frontier makes brushguard a that accommodate the sensors. Maybe they have the wiring or whatever you need.

Thanks guys for your input.   I messaged Frontier yesterday and I'm hoping for a response.  So far the only other company that I found that makes an extension kit is Westin but it only fits the 2014 - early 2019 silverado's.  They call it a Parking Sensor Relocation Kit #40-0005S  $79.99  for those who might be interested.      I would think that the sensor connectors would be the same as the new style truck but I can't find any info.

Are there any other brush guards or bull bars you guys know of that fit the new silverados that don't interfere at all with sensors? I don't even want to worry about relocation at all.

      I just brought home a 2020 GMC 1500 Denali.  She has 53K miles on her and I want to change out the fluids over the next few weeks.  I see the diff covers don't have drain plugs.  Any suggestions where I can pick up front and rear diff covers with drain plugs?   Thanks,   Bob

      Well, the dealership got the compressor and installed it. Air at the vents seems nice and cold as it should be. The service manager said the repair has a two year warranty and unlimited mileage. Hopefully I don't have to use it. The dealership i went to was one where I bought my 2014 half ton silverado. In 10 years and 168k miles on the truck anything I needed done and two small recalls they were always very good to me. Not a huge dealer either. I think they treat people well because they want you to come back. I have dealt with a different dealer that was too big to care about an individual. Just my two cents.

      Hi All, I operate my 2021 3500 SLT most of the time with the tailgate off and in a crate because I have a slide-in camper. However, at least once a year, I take the camper off and put the tailgate back on. Recently I installed the tailgate, but had a hard time getting the connector bail to swing to the fully latched position. The connector seems to fully seat, and everything works, but the bail doesn’t swing to fully latched position.  It swings almost there but stops and I am afraid to push it any harder.    Does anyone have any advice on cleaning or lubrication or anything else I should be doing?  i know how to properly operate the connector. During the time the tailgate and connector are off, i have a double plastic bag over the truck connector secured with rubber bands to keep it clean, but it still had some dust in it this time when I blew it out with compressed air. I didn’t want to spray it with anything other than air without doing some research. Thanks.

      There are a lot of spammer's that do that, quote something and add some commentary to make it seem legit, but modify the quoted text a bunch making sure when posted it's long enough to be "click to expand", and either immediately insert a spam link, or come back after some time and edit it to add the spam link.

      Hello @jaszr2 Do you have a link for the item? I put a replacement bumper on my truck and consequently had to relocate the shutters. I studied on them a while, and figured if you left a couple key blades, you could get most of the airflow with probably no throwing codes.
