Determine wheelbase

I was hoping someone would help here. I'm about to get a Silverado 16 or 18. I thought you are visually able to tell the 153" wheelbase. However, when I vin check this truck it appears it is a 153" wheelbase even though it looks exactly the same as another truck. Unless they have the vin incorrect. It was my assumption all 153" wheel base silverado's or all trucks for that matter, the increased size can visually be noticed in front of the rear wheelbase. Also, aren't all 143" wheelbase the short bed (5'8")?

I just went through the entire page. Excellent info but surprisingly with all the info they list, I couldn't find wheelbase listed once. Did I just not look in the right place?

Also, best way to spot a short bed is the gas door placement on the front half of the rear fender.
The longer beds have it on the body without obtruding into the fender body work.

Thinking the 143 is the 5'8" bed, and the 153 would be the 6'6" since it is exactly 1 foot longer in both cases.
