crazydog Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 My 2021 randomly came without the multipro tailgate. I can wait for one to come in but .. is it actually worth it? Since I'm 5'2" and I need that hand hold in the side rail to help me in and out of the bed . .I was thinking maybe I do need that tailgate simply because the tonneau cover the dealer put on, covers half of that hand hold .. lol.
eyaniv Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Yes. my Denali came with it, and I thought to myself at the beginning - what a gimmick. Since then - there isn't a time that I opened my tailgate and did not use the multipro. the killer feature - being able to stand closer to the bed when loading or unloading - just that is worth the whole thing. I also ski a lot, and using the built in bench to change to ski boots. 1
jd64 Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 i considered the multi flex and do like being able to stand closer to the bed for loading and unloading and the load stops but i decided on the standard tailgate because i didn't want to give up the power up and down feature.
99NCAA Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Yes - You want it, especially at 5'2". I am about 5" taller and I use it just about 100% of the time, and oddly enough, have never used the assist bar. In fact, I am thinking of removing the bar all together. With the multi-pro, I can simply step up into the bed at any time.
mrjulian416 Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Like many, before I owned one I thought the multi-pro was a gimmick. I use it all the time and with a truck this tall I would not want one without it. Just like 99NCAA, I drop the inner gate about 100% of time to get closer to the bed, or to quickly drop the step to get in/out. I'm not one to leave a hitch installed when not in use, so that issue is not an issue for me at least.
Dunn Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 same here.....mine came with it and although i am in construction thought i wouldnt use it.....I was wrong i use it alot, wouldnt buy another without now
REKIII Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 I thought this would be a good place to ask this, since you guys all use these tailgates heavily, you'll have good insight. I just got my 2021 last week and it has the MultiPro. I like it so far, I didn't really know what to expect. I'm coming from a ford with the pull out step. I never used it because I was too impatient to pull it out. The multipro is so automatic, I'm using it a lot. The question I have, is what is the best way to close it once deployed? It seems like if I want to close the dopdown section first, it is a 2 handed operation to not have the main gate go up. So, I've been grabbing the drop down and kind of closing all at the same time, which is fine, except it seems I'm always grabbing the painted section between the handle and the top trim. I can only imagine that will start to scratch and gouge depending on how filthy I am. How do you guys do it?
