I got a 2021 Sierra Crew Cab 1 1/2 months ago and while I really like the truck the radio (8" screen size is all I know about my radio) is driving me NUTS! About 60% to 70% of the time when I start the truck up the volume is twice as loud as I had it set and it turns the Auto Volume off (I set the Auto Volume to medium). It could happen when I first start it or after I shut it off, go in to a store and then restart it. Any ideas or is this a call to the dealer to have them tell me they have never heard of that problem?

even i have heard of this problem.  my associate pastor just purchased a similar pickup, just color difference and he has your problem, i.e. loud upon startup.   i was having just the opposite problem, the radio would go to 0 volume, plus he equalizer would go back to 0 and the "volume increase with speed" went to 0.  i finally convinced the dealer to check it out, i.e. "Flash the radio" as he said and problem solved.  hope something simple like "flashing" might be your issue.  interested in knowing what the solution is.

The auto volume is for when you're driving with windows down and the volume automatically increases. Look in the "audio" option in settings. There should be a  "Max startup volume" tab there. That is where you want to be.  However i have had a problem where my radio starts up crazy loud for a couple seconds then "sets" itself to MY setting. After researching there is a delay from startup to when your profile syncs. During that delay it will be at whatever the setting was at when there is no profile selected. I am trying to delete my profile now and use the "no profile" now with the sound settings at my preferred level and see if that helps.

Looks like I need to go see if I can find "my profile" and work from there. If not I will call the dealer. Thanks for the input so far.

Well I did a little looking around and I can't find the place where my "profile" is (or max startup volume as well). Any help here would be a time saver.

I’m having the same problem with the start up volume blasting. I carried to dealer 4 times already. First two times I got the standard answer( we never heard of that problem). Last time I was told by dealership that Gmail was aware of problem and working on a fix. Today I was told even if they replaced radio it would do the same thing. I was told to contact gm and maybe they would do something. As of now I have been on hold for 2 hours. Yes you read that right 2 hours. Probably my last gm product. No customer service at dealership or gm
