Alright, i have a 2019 sierra 1500 AT4 wth the 6.2. I am in the process of lowering it for multiple reasons. Dont ask why and dont ask why didnt i buy another trim. Rear is already done by removing the blocks and installing bilstein 5100’s for a base/elevation sierra. Fronts are still back ordered until next month, thankfully. I cant for the life of me find the shorter axles from the base, sle or elevation other then the dealership. Went  to Canadian Tire today and bought a set for almost half the price then the dealership. Got home and they are for the previous gen with the 5 bolt bolt-on style, not the spline shaft. Their parts list had the same part number for 2018, 19 and 20. I confirmed by crawling under my truck and the front shafts are 100% spline shafts. I cant find these on any website or shops other then dealership. Wtf gives?

If you provided a GM part number it would've been helpful.  I went to GM Parts Direct to see if I could you.  GM Parts Survey gave me GM part number 84793824.  I then went to www.rockauto.com and did a part number search.  It came back with an AC Delco party number, which appears to be in stock.  If you click on the Info button next to the part number it'll tell you that both ends are splined.  Input has 28 splines while the output is 33 splines.

i guess that gets me more info but those ship out of the states and cost the same or more then the dealership. Probably a no but are the gm part numbers for the axles the same for aftermarket axles a store/shop may get in? Im guessing not. 
 

also just noticed the info on those, it says with the 2” lift package. So those would be what is already in my AT4. I need the shorter ones that come with the sle, base or elevation. Not sure if the denali uses the same ones.

On your VIN number, does it start with a "1" or a "3"?

 

84793824 that Transient posted is the Trail Boss/AT4 CV shaft, not the non-lifted truck shaft.

My VIN starts with a 1. I found the correct ones on that site, Again, its a US company and im in canada, so shipping costs more then the axles lol. Total price is $100 more then what the dealership wants to charge me. Doubt im gonna find any in canada so im just going to the dealership today and order them.

Got them thanks. It took alot of digging around but i found a company that can get them tomorrow, are about an hour and a half away and $150 cheaper then the dealership. Really wish gm would have kept the old style axles.

Since the TB and AT4's have roughly the same suspension dimensions at full compression as the base 4x4's, you aren't gaining or losing anything by swapping to a shorter CV.  The Longer CV really only comes into play on suspension travel in the extension/drop portion of suspension travel on these trucks.  However, you have to do what makes you feel more comfortable.  Good luck on getting the stance you want, its nice when things finally get to where you want them to be and you can enjoy the truck for the purposes you intended for it. 

 

If you pull the extended shafts then post them up for sale, I'm sure they would sell quickly if appropriately priced.

I didnt know what problems, if any, I would run into if i didnt change out the axles. It's in the part list for the factory lift kit, so thats why I changed it. And eventually i might go lower, doubt it, but at least the option is there. At least now its easier to get into the truck with my sciatic nerve going crazy and my motorbike doesnt bottom out on the ramps when i load it into the bed. i usually keep oem parts so whenever i decided to get rid of it, i can put it back to stock and sell whatever aftermarket parts I have. Dealerships wont give you a penny when you trade in for the aftermarket parts but they will up charge when they sell it. Learned that when i was trading my 370z in for a SRT-10 Ram.  Wouldnt give me anything for my intake and exhaust but tried to up charge the SRT-10 because it had a intake and exhaust on it.

Ha, typical dealership wanting to talk out of both sides of their face.  Good luck getting your truck setup for your needs, its always nice once its exactly how you want it.

    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.  
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
