So I replaced my fuel pump with an AC Delco M10101 which indicates 143.5 wheelbase VIN T. It did not come with the float and sender so we used the old one which was working just fine hours earlier. After its all back together, truck thinks it is empty.

My only thought is somehow the new pump doesn’t like the old sender? Anyone have any ideas? Google doesn’t seem to produce a similar situation. Thanks.

Advice: never use a used electrical part on a new part when it's a pain to get to. Like a used fuel pump float on a new pump assembly. The only time a fuel pump or float go bad is right after you fill the GD tank right?

With fuel tanks always use all new parts unless you wanna go back into the tank....

Remove electrical connector at fuel pump.
measure resistance between two small wires coming from module.

if it shows 0 ohms the sender circuit is “open” and you broke something when removing/installing the sensor. I know cuz I did this before, luckily I had the bed off when I did mine and it wasn’t too bad…

hmm, Ive never seen a fuel pump module come without the sending unit. if you tried to save a buck just doing the pump you skimped in the wrong place given the history of bad sending units GM has

Actually the AC Delco fuel pumps are more reliable that the aftermarket Do some reading on this and other sites and people recommend OEM.

Actual issue. AC Delco failed when finding a part via VIN on their site. The orientation of the float location has the float hitting a baffle in the tank. Ordered Delphi which is proper.

Not my photo but you get the idea.
