What is this switch?

Looking at trucks on-line and I see an odd switch/button in the overhead console.  What is this switch?

Comes in handy if you ever have to transfer small quantities of stupid long lumber.

Very true. Another good use for me is that I have a topper and my dogs travel with me in the bed. It's an easy way to have access and as well as keep an eye on them. I always try to have the sliding rear window in all my trucks.

Unrelated, but kinda related, I have cats and opened the ski pas-through in my 1990 525i when I moved to Phoenix for a bit so my cats could go into the trunk for food, water and a litter box while I made the long trip from Florida.

So, I am guessing it took only "one time" forgetting the litter box in the trunk on a hot day to never do it again

LOL! It was a long trip, a few pet friendly hotels and the car had air conditioning.
Litter box changed at every stop.
I have a great story about the stop in New Orleans, with the cats, but that is a better story for the off-topic forum, as well as when my deaf cat escaped the hotel room in Phoenix at a mountain resort.
