I guess alot depends on your driving habits. The more mud and such, the harder it is going to keep clean. I have used tire cleaner and a brush, but it is a pain in the ass with the tire still on. And of course some Mequires protectant, or tire black sprayed on the plastic helps. I have a harder time keeping the painted areas looking good.

I use a long handle brush to clean the wheel wells after the rest of the truck is cleaned and spray them with Son of a Gun. They've stayed pretty clean... then again I live pretty close to everything I need and having three vehicles to choose from I don't put a whole lot of miles on any one of them during the year... Take that for what it's worth.

Hayaaa.... the first week of owning a new truck, I spray a whole bottle of ArmorAll or something similar like 303 on everything plastic under the truck. Let it run off and setup for about a couple of hours. Then, wipe off the excess, rubbing gently until everything appears even. Do not wipe off, just wipe around and even it out. The wiping is necessary to start the chemical process of binding to the plastic.

Then ... I rinse once each week while washing the truck. Looks brand new under there.

Repeat every year.

I used a fairly stiff brush (like a tire brush) and some Automotive Simple Green to clean mine. Let the Simple green sit for a few minutes (had to go over w/ an old credit card to remove some road tar too :chevy: ) then scrubbed away. Looked brand new :) Note: I did this to the HD, so I had plenty of room. When I do it to the vette there will be alot more effort involved :chevy:

I always scrub my wheel wells, suspension and frame with a long handled brush then I use cheap tire foam from AutoZone and spray everything down. Buy them in bulk for two cans for $3. Keep it coated and the clean up is simple.

I also use the simple green and a wash mitt or cloth followed by a coating of Meguiars or other protectant

griots garage sells a product just for wheel wells. I havent purchased it yet, but anything from griots is sure to work well

I clean the wells with Adams All Purpose Cleaner then use Adams Undercarriage Spray (it's designed especially for wheel wells) - makes them look they were painted and it lasts through a few washes. The website below has videos on all the products.
