smart alternator or traditional one?

Hi! everyone

I have a 2021 silverado RST with 170A alternator. Please let me know whether this is smart or traditional one.

It is a "smart" alternator as it will turn itself off and on as needed based on the electrical draw of the vehicle. I believe 2014 was the first year this was used in the Silverados.

ECM/BCM manage the alternator and command it's output.

2005, and as redwngr said it's managed by the ECM
