Hi everyone.  I currently have a 2018 F-350 CCSB with the 6.2 gas and and considering going to a GMC 3500 Duramax. I’m towing a fifth wheel with a 15k GVWR and the tongue weight is right around 3k as it sits; it’s pin heavy. My F-350 has a payload rating of 3,850lbs and I’d like to have a few hundred pounds more. Is it possible to get a Duramax 3500HD CCSB 4x4 SRW with 4,100lbs or so?  My preference is a base AT4 or Denali with the gooseneck prep, but can go with an SLT with leather if necessary.

Typically I’d go wander the lots but they’re hard to come by. I’m ready to order later this month but don’t trust the dealer to give me realistic numbers beyond “oh yeah, that’s no problem”. Can a few people here post their payloads?

Maybe call a dealer who shows one coming in similar to what you are considering and ask them to text you a picture of the weight rating sticker in the door jamb?  Even though it may be a sold truck they probably would do that for you.

I have a 2020 Silverado 3500 CCSB 4x4 SRW and its payload rating is 3890 lbs. It's an LT trim with leather and factory towing pucks. The trucks you mention are probably heavier due to more features and options which would reduce the payload. Gas trucks have higher payloads due to their lighter drivetrains. With a 15K fifth wheel, you may want to consider a DRW.

Try this GM website, for their weight calculator.  Newest weight calculator I found is from 2020, but this should give you a ball park figure.

Good luck!

Google "2022 Chevrolet 3500 HD payload capacity" and the same for GMC.  They are different capabilities with Chevy having a significant edge in both payload and towing capacities.....why I don't know.  SRW is of course lower than DRW in both and Duramax significantly more capacity than gas.
