GM apparently forces us to use Android audio for the steering wheel talk button to function. If connected to Carplay, pressing the talk button emits the following: “Sorry, I can’t make calls while CarPlay is active. To continue you can use Apple CarPlay, or disconnect it when safe.” So, i disconnect Carplay to make calls or send voice texts. So F’ing dumb! Thanks GM! Sounds like you have something set up wrong or are using it wrong. I have an iPhone and use CarPlay all the time. When using CarPlay, press and hold the phone button on the wheel for a couple seconds until you hear the Siri listening tone and then you can call or send texts. If you are just quick pressing the button, you are interfacing with the truck's bluetooth/google built-in and not CarPlay/Siri. Edited December 4, 2024 by newdude
redwngr Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Wireless or with cable connected? Is your phone software up to date? Did you follow the set-up instructions in the trucks owners manual? Others seem to not have issues with mobile calls - using AA, CP or BT

Hold the talk button down till you hear the Siri chime... as newdude indicated.

David hattaway Posted April 12, 2025 Posted April 12, 2025 It's all about the car play or Android auto, my 2025 controls would stop working after about 30 minutes on the way to work. After work would they would work fine for about 30 minutes and stop again. So I turned off my Bluetooth on my phone and just used the radio and maps from the truck and the problem went away. Can't use your phone through your vehicle though this way. There needs to be a software update to the vehicle to fix this issue.

I have my phone bluetooth connected to truck, but don't activate AA - because I don't like the AA interface. Some have reported restarting phone successfully cleaning up issues.
