Hey everyone! Looking for some info and I am having a hell of a time trying to find it. Can I pull the 5.3 out of a 2008 Sierra. Tear it down and rebuild it and put it into a 2001 Silverado using the Harness in the Silverado??

You will have to do the LS2 timing cover and move the cam sensor.

You will also have to tap the holes in the side of the block for the knock sensors and get a knock sensor extension harness.

You cannot use the reluctor wheel on the crankshaft that is in the 08. You'll need to find another crank or get a reluctor wheel put in.

Not worth it.

Ok what if I am getting this engine for free and decide I want to strip it down and do a performance engine. New internals and such. And change out the ECM for a performance one?

This isn't the 1980s where we just "swap" ECMs for performance stuff like they did with performance chips lol

You just get your current ECM tuned.

What's your question here? What if you get it for free what?

"Free" stuff is always the most expensive.

ie:

"Free truck,

ran when parked... just needs a battery." 😂
