Is there a trick to this?  I’ve removed rear straps but shaft will not budge forward and drop.  2016 Elevation with 4x4

When I removed my driveshaft (2017), I had to give the u-joint a couple of taps with a hammer.

Here's the trick: with the cap-securing bolts loosely threaded in a few turns and the caps on (as a safety net), the parking brake set AND your left foot firmly on the brake pedal, put the truck in gear and lightly apply the throttle in quick jabs.  Engine torque will break the rust seal holding the u-joint to the differential input flange.  Having a spotter watch helps, or you'll be getting in and out to check for movement.  You can use similar methodology to free an aluminum wheel seized to a steel hub.

Get a bigger pry bar and put it inbetween the U joint.  I just had to do this last week to drop my transmission.
