Cylinder washing

Recently got a code that led me to the dealership.  It is a bad fuel injector that needs replacing.  Will take a week to get the parts.  In the meantime the dealer said I could drive it.  It isn't running badly but I don't want to have any issue with cylinder washing.  What are your opinions on this.  Can I trust the dealer and drive it for the week until the parts come in?   Should I have them take a look at the cylinder once the parts come in to make sure there is no damage?  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thank you

If it’s under warranty. Make the dealership provide you with a loaner! Plain and simple.

Mode of failure matters. 

 

Bad fuel injector as in 'not injecting' or bad fuel injector as in 'stuck open'? 

Or partial fuelling (underfueling), or overfuelling...

 

One cylinder in an I4 engine is different than one cylinder in a V8 engine.  

 

Number of miles driven, at what speeds, and at what loads also matters.

 

 

Presumably at least some of that was considered when they said it could be driven.

A bad injector is usually one that is not flowing enough fuel.  Cylinder washing would only be an issue if it was injecting too much fuel, and your emissions system would be throwing a fit if that was the case.
