yes, the smooth handles are plastic as well.  You can install the passive handles sure; you just won't have the functionality of the button for the passive system.

Can you send me the part numbers you used to order the handles? Having trouble finding the keyhole part. I have the handles as 13526759, and the solid thumbs as 84496193. Can you break down what you paid. I have a local body shop quote me $250.

I was able to order a set of smooth black handles and have local body shop paint for me.  I've sanded textured black parts in the past and painted; just don't have the time these days.  Parts and painted cost me $400 total.

I had a post over in the 2500 threads, Denny you may have actually commented on there now that I think about it haha.

Disregard part of my last message,  it looks like we spoke and you threw away the box that had part number for keyhole. Question though,  does the 13526759 handle come with the thumb part?

Thanks

I'm assuming he meant 2014-2019 limited.

Maybe,  the ones I bought the ebay had listed 2015-2020. I emailed and he assured me me that they would fit. Of course they didn't, and he is dumbfounded.

Not sure, but you can see in the pictures I posted the difference.  The black is off my Custom.

sorry for the delayed response, been traveling.  Yes, that part # had the keyhole and handle both in the box.  My painter charged me $400 for everything.  I was able to go through him to order the handles to get his body shop discount.  The handles were around $100 or so I believe, then the rest were his cost to paint.  Sorry, not much help.

On a side note, thank you for being the guy to take the risk and order the color matched handles that you did to try out.  It sucks that they didn't work out, but you were able to share that info and now everyone else on here can use that.  I know that doesn't help you recoup your money or your time, but it's a big help to the forum!

I went to the local dealer and they wanted $338 for the set, called the dealer and spoke to the salesman to see if he could get me dealer cost on handles. He quoted me $388, I said you are crazy and your company is screwing you over if that is your cost.

Bought some the other day off one of the many gm websites that sale parts. Hard part was finding the keyhole part number, plus the website says it doesn't fit on a Custom. My guess is because it only comes with the cheap black textured where as the different models have different options. Paid $177 for handles,  Thumb part was a separate part number, body shop around the corner is charging $250 to paint. Total is more than I wanted to pay, but hate the textured black. Funny thing is you can buy a complete set of the old style for 40-50 dollars all day long.

They are suppose to arrive Friday, hopefully right parts this time. If it works ill start a new thread with the part numbers etc... I've asked several on this gm forum and no responses other than you. Appreciate your help, us southern Indiana boys have to stick together:)

I'm glad you got it worked out.  Sorry I couldn't be more  help on the keyhole part.  I forgot to mention that my painter has an LTZ, so he used his vin # when he was looking up parts for me to match what would fit.  Maybe in a few years there will be cheaper color matched handles out there for our body style, but I didn't want to wait that long.  I'll stay tuned for the complete installed pics on your truck!

    • Looking for help troubleshooting a metallic like front end rattle. Figured I’d see if anyone had thoughts before I schedule an appointment with the dealer.   The rattle is fairly loud and occurs primarily when the front driver side wheel hits a bump, even fairly minor road seams. Sometimes does it when the passenger hits a bump but I don’t believe when the rear hits. Rattle still occurs when foot is pressing brake peddle so I think that rules out the caliper rattle I’ve read about. I’ve also checked the running boards and they are tight.   Most noticeable at slow speeds.    Any insight is appreciated.
    • We try to make cruise the coast. It’s where our favorite casino is. I only want to spectate. Never took a car. Always had one to take. I belonged to a club once. Even when I used to drag raced. It was during test and tune. Probably because I’m not a night owl, party person.
    • We had a pretty big cars and coffee in Indy this past weekend.  Pretty much anything and everything was there.
    • Good looking Olds, and TRX!   I haven't been into car shows either. I'm probably not a convert but I did push myself this year to attend a few select events to challenge some assumptions and try to experience car-based social clubs in a different way. I joined up with the local Hagerty group for some cars/coffee events, group drives. A month ago I showed my '94 Camaro I rescued last fall at Radwood. Had a good time, but, there was some sitting around with the car and that's the part of shows I don't enjoy as much. I prefer to be a spectator, walk the show, grab a burger, go home.   Radwood was the only era-limited event, but where it had strict model year limitations, it made it up in variety. Having Jason Camissa there was also a hoot.   Where I see old 50's car shows, doo-wop and winga dinga music stuff fading out, same with "only" vintage muscle clubs, it seems to be the activity-based clubs/events which are gaining strong popularity. Places where all cars and interests come together.
