remote start in 99 sliverado

i recently had installed an avital 4200 remote start in my 99 silverado. It works fine but a few of the radio backlights are now not functioning, any reasons? Also, a dealer had told me to steer clear of remote starts in any gms after 96, he said that the remote start interrups the pcu sleep mode causing system shutdown in the near future, is there any truth to this? I'm not as informed on this subject as i should be, thanks a lot. --jess

Do the radio backlights work if you start the truck normally?

Do the rest of the dash lights work when the truck is remote started?
