bigdoug42 Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Got an email the other day from GM about extending the warranty on my 2019 new style Silverado. Bumper to bumper is up in late November, and it has 26k on it currently. It's been flawless so far, just the Trans flush and refill with the updated fluid (TCC shudder, fixed). There are varying year/mileage coverages/2years 30k miles up to 6 years 72k miles. Does anyone, mechanics or otherwise have any experience, good or bad with this? Thanks in advance for any opinions.
chem_man Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 If you belong to AAA, check and see how much one of their extended warranties are. The AAA Platinum is comparable to the top of the line GM Extended Warranty for a lot less money. Good Luck!
redwngr Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 If they want to sell it to you, it's because they believe they will make money by doing so. If it makes you sleep better at night, that can be another benefit. If you take all the money for all the 'extended warranties' you've been offered (vehicles, appliances, electronics, etc etc) and put it in a savings account, you can 'self insure'. Put the profit from these warranties in your pocket instead of someone elses.
KARNUT Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 I did it with one vehicle. When I was dealing it part of the deal for over all best price. The car was a new model a 2011 Genesis. It already had 10-100K warranty. For a little more we did complete bumper to bumper for the same time. Just after 60K the radio, nav, backup camera fails. The only problem we ever had. It cost us 100$. If it was a Toyota I wouldn’t have bought one. It’s called playing the odds. I wouldn’t buy a Chevy-Ford-Ram without one. Honda-Toyota- maybe.
Greyhound6.2 Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 My 20' 6.2/10 speed has been up at the dealer for a month now while they work on the transmission 31K miles on it. I no longer trust the longevity of this truck it will be gone before it is out of warranty 1
