Thanks, I got a cheep ebay fin. remolded it to point down a little bit in the back. Did a cast then made a new one out of fiber glass.  took a few tries lol

It's a rubber grommet. fit the Lense tightly and fit into a 1" hole in the fin.  once i was happy with the camera alignment I epoxied the camera body to the fin inside.

Eventually I'll up load a video to my unDNR Chevys YouTube

You've got to get a matching camera. I couldn't tell you that as I don't know. My understanding is that it's a screen resolution on the mirror and camera resolution improvement with the 2nd gen. That's just what I have read though.

For anyone wondering how this can be done without drilling into their taillight, here is my first attempt at less destructive installation.

 

I am printing this in ASA as it is very UV resistant. It mounts via adhesive for now and has an integrated drain (although the camera is fairly water resistant anyways). I am already working on another revision for this.

I may want to use a mirror camera like this but to hook up to a boat trailer so I can see behind it backing up.  Seems like I would just need to find a camera that is waterproof and has the right resolution to work with the mirror?

Aftermarket cameras have different plug then the factory gm cameras. The gm mirror camera has one plug that does everything.

I am looking into doing this on my 2019 with a shell onboard full time. I see the shark fin idea. Just want to confirm. All I need is what’s in the video and then attach the camera somewhere correct?
