2022 Chevy Silverado missing power cord for rear view mirror

Recommended Posts

I have a 2022 Chevy Silverado RST. I have a manual dimming rear view mirror. I wanted to upgrade to the video mirror. But there is no power cord under the head liner that connects to the powered rear view mirror. Why would my truck not come with the connector and how can I add one. What is the connector called. Or how would I splice in the powered mirror to the truck.

Those trucks that were not specs with the dimming mirror do not have the connector and wiring to add one in the refresh. Last I checked with Gen5DIY on a harness, they still have not been able to identify part numbers and order connectors to modify a truck with the lane keep assist module to add auto dimming mirrors. outside of wiretapping a hot lead, it just can't be done yet with the shortage of pretty much every thing in the industry

That's odd in the refresh they removed the wiring up there. Just an auto dim mirror is cake to wire. Just run power to a switched fused circuit and ground. There's a 3rd wire, usually green, that is for the reverse light circuit so it turns off dimming when in reverse, but it's not a requirement to be used. I've retrofitted several of my older vehicles with auto dim mirrors. The video thing is a whole different animal. You can buy rearviews with displays in them and you'd have to add aftermarket cameras if that's what you want.

The power cord is glued in the headliner. Your truck is pre wired for all the fealtures made it easy on GM to add features on truck with all the options they can pick and choose which trim levels to sell.

Its definitely not glued to the headliner like the pre-refresh. I've been up in there with my refresh with Lane keep assist. The RST trucks that have that don't get the wiring glued to the roof. It's almost certainly due to the wiring harness shortage we had the last year and a half.

Is yours a refresh 22 or 22 pre-refresh/old interior?  I have a 22 pre-refresh and wanted to do the mirror cam has well.  Looks like I have to check to see if the harness is up there!

It's not sure if this helps.... I have a 2023 RST and I am trying to do the video mirror upgrade but don't have the harness available but I did find this up above the passenger side in the headliner. Maybe someone can shed some light as to what this is and can we use it.

Are there only 2 wires on it? If so it's probably for the lighted sun visors. I added those to my 21 Custom.

Any chance you have a part number for the lighted sun visors?

I don't. I just found a listing on ebay and bought them. The LED lights on them are as underwhelming as the overhead lights in the interior. They were honestly a waste of money.
