Does a 2018 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3 V8 have a coolant filter?

I don't know of any car or truck that has a coolant filter. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Not unless it was added aftermarket

Some medium/heavy duty diesel engines have coolant filters and require special coolant but I have never seen 1 in anything else

Not as an OEM in regular passenger vehicles, but its a pretty straightforward mod. I had a setup on my 05 LLY Duramax using a filter base similar to this one (available from NAPA or Baldwin and others) Mine ran a regular coolant filter and Dexcool. You simply put a "T" in the intake side and the output side of the heater core and the flow through the filter was enough to cycle the entire coolant contents after a length of time. It did help to keep the coolant free from debris especially after the head gasket repair and the water pump replacement. 

Some of the big trucks will use a regular filter like I did and plain green coolant, these still require PH testing and occasional balancer to correct the PH. The newer trucks oftne ran an ELD coolant and used a "need release" additive that was in the filter already.
