SLT side rearview mirror front lights, what's the purpose?

Just got a new 2023 GMC SLT X31 with pretty much every option.  

 

Mirror 'spot lights'?

I mean they're cool and all when you're in park, fairly bright as well.  But I have no idea what their "function" is for.  Anyone?

They're part of the work light package. I don't know who designed it, it's obvious they never had to work on or around a truck.

Ihave had my 21 for 2 1/2 years and never used them. They should have maade fog lamps standard instead of forcing you to get this almost worthless option.

I've turned mine on 2 times I think since 11/19. They are pretty much useless I.M.O.

I got the harness from boost so you can turn on while driving. I find they help at lower speeds in neighborhoods are busy areas at night especially with tint. When I put the upfitter aux switches in I will try to run one off of an aux switch too

I've had my '21 for a year and a 1/2 and just remembered they are on the truck when i saw this thread. No wonder these things are so expensive. And I remember the salesman gushing over this 'cool' new feature! OOOkkkk...
