Hey guys, I have a ‘22 High Country duramax, 21kmi, and was noticed a slight shimmy under braking. I’m really sensitive to shakes and rattles so I replaced the front rotors with AC Delco Gold rotor. The shake is still there under braking. Could it be the rear rotors? I thought it might be impossible to warp the rear rotors. I tend to be a little hard on brakes, my last truck was a ‘21 AT4 with 27k when I traded it and the shake was pretty bad. Any ideas? Thanks.

If it was the fronts you'd have felt it in the wheel.  Shimmy feel in the seat its typically the rears.

GM will turn them under warranty.

Wow!

That's pretty bad to have shimmy that early on, but at least your able to admit you are a hard braker.  Hopefully its just the rear rotors that need to be turned, let us know how it goes.

My 2023 2500 HD is pulsating at 27,000 mi.  Thought maybe it was bad tires.  Replaced with Defender platinum.  Still has braking issue.  Dealer wants me to pay $600 to turn rotors.   Hell No!  Gonna be a fight.

GM dealers seem to struggle to understand what "Bumper to bumper" means. My wipers started streaking after 3 months and they were like "that will be 50 bucks". Like no, you idiots, it should be free. This is clearly a defect. Wipers don't fail at 3 mo.

Yeah, i put 12k miles on in 2.5 months (driving 1200 miles a week does that). I don't even think I used the wipers more than once in that 2.5 months and they still were jerks about it. I'm salty because of the 5 times I have had my truck in and they have always been worse than terrible. I could write a book, but it isn't worth the time. I paid to have the idle time TSB completed and that still doesn't work. I had the camera fail at 15k miles and it took them almost 2 months to replace that. I had a lifter fail and then after they fixed it I still was getting stumbles and the same code as I took it in for. This was across two different dealers. I worked at a couple of dealers in a past life, and the stuff that they did would have never flown where I worked previously. I like my truck, but I hate gms dealer network.

This was my 5th new vehicle and the first time I had bought a GM. Then to deal with the stuff I dealt with relative the other brands I had owned really left a bad taste in my mouth. Sometimes goodwill goes a long way when you are experiencing vehicle part failures. Plus, they denied my use of a loaner/rental everytime.

I have a pulsating when braking too. They turned my rotors at 26,000kms free of charge due to my trailer brake module taking since new to diagnose. Just figured rotors warped due to not having any trailer brakes and big loads.
but just put my winter wheels on tonight and right rear has 39 thou runout, left rear 4 thou. Didnt bother measuring the front as the right rear is enough to cause it. No steering wheel shake. Calipers slide nicely on the pins, pads are worn evenly.
I will ask the dealer tomorrow but i would imagine a new set of rotors are going to be on my dime. But curious on why they warped again. I do not brake hard like the OP lol. I use my exhaust brake and drive as conservative as possible, Im always on the quest for the best mileage possible.

rotors really do not warp , they develop hard spots that don't wear the same as the rest of the rotor. once they do this it is done, yes you can have a rotor turned, but all that does is cut down the harden spot but is is still there and in time the soft part wears and the harden spot does not, so you think the rotor is warped again. just about all rotors are made from recycled steel now, so it starts with poor quality steel.

Interesting. This makes sense. One bad rotor out of four could definitely be the issue here and honestly a relief. I was thinking if one brake line or caliper had a defect sending too much fluid to the right rear or something like that. Try to explain or

have that diagnosed by the dealer lol.
I will just toss a set of new rotors on if the dealer wont under warranty being this has been an ongoing issue

rotors warp! no if ands or buts. ever hit the brakes and have a pedal pulse? and why turn a rotor if it has no lateral movment?
