I can see you as a Cabby. :P Friendly, chatty.... 😉

I like simple. Stone axe simple. Test drove a Toyota SR5 TRD 4X4 the other day. A 747 hasn't got that many buttons! 😱. The nanny devices drove me . Too much STUFF. It's not that I don't like power seats. I just don't miss them if they are not there.

I believe that’s what caused my mother in law to quit driving. The CRV is the top of line with all the nannies you can imagine. With all the bells and buzzer’s and warnings flashing she probably thought the thing was possessed. The adaptive cruise on certain roads is like an amusement ride. Luckily you can turn most off. The lane keep is the most annoying. My mother wouldn’t part her 2000 truck for that reason. I’m reasonably up on that stuff. Most of it is annoying. Most people who actually enjoy driving probably feel the same.

And there we have it. Well said!

Wife rented an Accord once that would take control of the wheel in a lane change without a signal. Okay, you should use your signal. Problem was road construction areas where the markings are willy-nilly taped OVER the painted markings. Car is rather firm about this take over. Downright dangerous.

In retirement some people fish. Some play golf. I drive and love it to the point the drive IS the destination. If I make a destination, it's just an excuse to drive. I don't have to tell stories about the one that got away, and I don't have to wash my balls or lose them in the rough. 😉

Remember when people used to spend Friday and Saturday nights just driving back and forth down main street of their town??

I still like driving as much as the first I hit the road in my Mazda RX3. Now it’s even more fun. I have 4 different walking trails to choose from. I actually could get my steps in walking the driveway to our house in back. I have to drive somewhere daily. More often than not in my avalanche. For some reason the dash layout is my favorite.

In high school until I got married. I showed up one weekend with a recent purchase of a 70 MD special javelin with the go package. The fastest car at the time was a 69 super bee. I sought him out. He unfortunately missed second gear I only gave him one bit at the apple.

That one had a trunk and chin spoiler too. I traded it for a 69 roadrunner. And then a 67 California Special mustang. The trend started with a 66 442 and ended the year with trading the mustang for a 69 Impala. Finally the impala was traded for a 74 Nova custom for my wife. And my pickup life began with a 70 Ford.

Funny thinking about it I got my license in 1973, married 1974, graduating in 1975. Moved to Texas in 1978. That’s only 1/2 of the vehicles I had before that move. Adding building a new home in that period. I was busy.
