Ordered my retirement truck

I'm 5'6" and wish I could get it to go higher. My wife and daughter are both 5'1" and they look so little riding in the passenger seat which does not have a power seat.

I bought a new retirement truck in 2014. A year later I retired. Turns out with the fuel mileage and it being hard for my wife to get in and out. It wasn’t a great trip vehicle. Trucks get unstable in pop up storms with nothing in the bed. I’m a truck guy so I went with used. It was a great stress reliever because trip vehicles get beat on and parked in parking lots. Forget about valet parking. Nice trucks aren’t cheap. You can get a loaded nice car SUV or even minivan for an entry level truck. I know, I do. Love my truck as a personal vehicle.

Yeah would have to agree. we have the 2500 and an acadia. Truck is for towing, moving things, and occasional long trips where crowds and such wont be present. I wouldnt go with an equinox style SUV to small, but the acadia is perfect, easier to drive, gets 50% better MPG and easier to park all the while handling most luggage and such. If your caught with the only can have one vehicle it would be the truck. But if not I wouldnt be using the 2500 as a travel wagon.

im done growing and am the only driver of the truck so it’s never been adjusted

Im with you on this one. Just more ****** to go bad in the future.. esp when you have passengers that think they have to touch every damn switch they can find and then run out the lubar support 100%, then find the switch only works one way - ha ha to them but the next passenger had to put up with it for 2 hours(was on my fav pickup 01 1500 LT Silverado that was 10 years old by this point).

The only reason I have them now is that was the minimum package to get a 6.2

Does anyone have a wild ass guess how long this process might take, I thought maybe being a low trim level it would built sooner, and is valve cokeing a thing with these trucks?

I came from a 2015 Canyon and it was there. Thanks for the reply’s

Anything would be a WAG, having said that, a lot of constraints are because of supplier shortages. GM is literally playing Whack A Mole with their supply chain. As soon as one issue is resolved another pops up.

I got my truck earlier than we anticipated. It came in around 90 days and part of that was waiting for my dealer to get an allotment. In the past its been around 6-7 weeks. I took delivery in May and I wasnt really planning for it until July.

I traded my truck for a 15 Hyundai Santa Fe I liked it just fine. I did Uber for awhile and put a ton of miles on it. So in 2017 I saw Camrys were on sale with a redesign coming out. I got 10k off. Good thing I was 6K upside down from miles on the Hyundai. It was going to add a year in payments. New car with one added year. Three years later my daughter was looking for a car I handed her the keys and was going to go with the wife’s Genesis as our trip car. After one trip with the best trip vehicle so far my mother in law decided to stop driving. Being my wife did all her errands anyway. We get a touring edition CRV with 6K miles on it free. Honestly I wasn’t happy. After 2 years and 40K miles I got quite fond of it. A little small but didn’t drive like it. My other daughters higher mileage odyssey hits 100K a needs lots of maintenance. She drives 100 miles per day. So we switch. The CRV has some accident avoidance features the odyssey doesn’t being a lower model. After getting all the maintenance done and going on a few trips. I can say all those different vehicles have their uses. And remember I have a nice used truck as a going to town vehicle. For the money, convenience, size, power, gas mileage and comfort the minivan can’t be beat. Buying used it be hard to find a abused one. The ones that are left are the best.

Mine was ordered and accepted by Chevrolet on 5/12, built 6/08 and placed on a rail car 06/23 in Oshawa, but the rail car hasn't left the yard as of yesterday. I'm assuming I'll see it mid to late July. Oshawa seems to be the black hole of the two plants and no one can predict when it will leave and the bad thing is you won't know which plant it was built at until the window sticker is released. That's if you ordered a crew cab, standard bed. Everything else is built in Michigan.

Reading you say best road trip vehicle got me thinking. For me, of vehicles I’ve owned, it’s my 95 Cadillac Fleetwood hands down. That car just floated down the road soaking up miles. And had plenty of power with the LT1. I drove it across the country and holding 80+ up “the ike” in the Rocky Mountains was possible with ease.

I feel that way about my wife’s car she’s had about 12 years. Her genesis. The replacement for that car doesn’t fall in the bang for the buck trip vehicle. The anxiety level would be higher. Whereas a good used minivan wouldn’t be a bad buy compared. The anxiety level would be nonexistent.
