NotoriousGT350 Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Had our family vacation in which we just arrived home at 1am this morning in a rental. From Anaheim, CA (Disneyland) to Lubbock, TX (home) it gave out in Tucson, AZ. Slipping so bad rpms jumping to 3K and barely moving, Trans Temp 198. Dropped it off at Watson Cheverolet there in Tucson. Service guy called me on the road and no codes were pulling up, but his transmission tech says something is definitely wrong internally. Looking at a little over $7K for a GM rebuilt transmission with 3 year/100K mile warranty which includes parts and labor. The most expensive vacation we ever had. Wifes ride is 2016 Yukon SLT, 2wd, 5.3L w/ 120K miles. Oil changes religiously, trans flushed about 40K miles ago, I just did brake pads replacement, A/C condenser replacement. Think the 110-114* was just too much for it had we counted about 30 vehicles on side of road (most blown tires, others engine/transmission problems likely). Parents Acadia engine went out, had it replace with rebuilt for $10K, my TrailBoss trans cooler line leaked(replaced under warranty), Passenger lifter failure (replaced under warranty), and now has a shuddering in the transmission, and now wife's Yukon transmission failure... Thoughts, suggestions? Wife wanting to switch brands and I'm on the fence.

Seems like you’re doing proper maintenance. Probably people with tire problems are running them too long. All my vehicles have at least 130K miles except one toy. Don’t have any temperature related problems. Could be the brand or a run of bad luck. You know what they say bad luck runs in threes. My GM has the most miles of the bunch, no problems. 1
NotoriousGT350 Posted August 6, 2023 Author Posted August 6, 2023 They do come in threes, that's for sure! Once it's ready, I'll have to fly there, pick it up and head on back. I do keeps files/folders on all my rides for service done or parts bought for them. I'll just try to keep her going until we decide to sell/trade-in. 1
