Low Oil Pressure

Oil pressure went down to 22lbs at Idle 40 lbs at speed changed oil pressure sending unit no help. 5.3 92000 miles on engine what could be wrong?

Did you change the screen under it? 

 

How often do you change oil and what oil do you use? Did the drop happen overnight or over months, years? 

 

You own this from new? 

 

Have you recently changed oil weigh or grade? Different filter manufacture or grade with the same manufacture? More detail please. 

 

Have your dealer do a test block pressure survey before you panic.

No problem. It's normal. If you actually had low oil pressure you would have engine failure. You'd notice alot of chattering in your engine

 

It will be higher in the winter.

Agreed, completely normal for a 5.3/6.2 LT engine.

 

I run low 20's at hot idle and it runs like 36-38psi cruising at 60-70mph. Theses are computer controlled oil pumps, it doesn't require a lot of pressure to run fine.
