My dealer got me in for service sooner than expected. Determined that the TCCM (transfer case control module) was shorted internally. Luckily they had one in stock and the repair was completed in two hours. No more OTA updates for me!!!

you're definitely lucky. Mine is ordered but the dealer has no idea when it will come in. Maybe Thursday, Friday or Monday they have no idea. The rental i'm driving is now at a total of over $700 for a filthy piece of crap rav4 that i'm paying out for until possibly next Monday unless they get the part sooner.

Wow! What a mess! Your dealer doesn’t provide a loaner vehicle? They should have pulled a module out of something sitting on the lot.

Nope. The dealer servicing the truck and the dealer I bought the truck from don't have loaners which I call bullshit because my truck WAS a loaner and is listed as a "Demo" vehicle that they used for loaning out to others and had 4k miles on the clock when I bought it from them with a reduced price of 5 grand from the listing price.

GM customer service tried to call me back today but I was on the phone at work and couldn't grab the call so I emailed them to try and figure out what compensation they will offer me. Probably some crap like free onstar for a month or a free oil change.

If the dealer is such an ass, straight up tell GM you feel the dealers service dept broke your truck with improperly diagnosing it originally. Nobody else had a truck that undriveable from the update. Gm will reimburse your rental and probably offer a buyback if you keep saying you want a reliable resolution and have lost faith in the repairs done. When I lived in VA, and the dealers sucked, I’ve been offered a buyback over a clicking in my steering (2018 z71) saying I’m not confident in the ability and repairs of the dealers in my area. I was able to fix it with a bunch of red grease in the steering shaft knuckle. It was a custom order truck and I honestly just wanted it fixed.
pretty much, don’t ask for a buyback just tell them you don’t feel safe or confident in the repairs. I bet you’ll at least get a Silverado loaner.

GM doesn't really seem to give a ****** either. I called them myself and they just keep on the bullshit of waiting with the dealer who now has no idea when the TCCM that was ordered will arrive but thinks I might get my 2023 back on Monday. Nothing like a week and a half for a god damn update to trash your truck and have no idea how to diagnose it or even communicate with you what in the hell is going on. I know this dealer is my last visit I ever make there with the way i'm being treated for this whole experience.

Everyone who has been fixed is definitely lucky. The supposed part came today but it has the wrong connector on it and won't hook up to my truck. The right part is on backorder thanks to the greed with the strike and I'm on another length of this expensive ass rental. I swear this kind of crap is making me closer to just saying screw GM and find some other kind of truck to drive. This truck will probably become a lemon at the rate this whole thing is going.

Have "you" tried searching for the part nationwide?

yes "I" have tried searching and you need to throw the zip code in for a local dealer and everything that is electronic for this truck is out of stock.

If it has the wrong connector on it, the dealer f’ed up ordering the part! I was serious when I said prior, to tell them to take the part off something on the lot. Like Steve-2019 suggested, I would try to see if the part can be located elsewhere.

dealer said GM would never allow taking the part off another vehicle on the lot. I'm trying to raise hell with the customer service rep I have had some communication with at GM but she is so backlogged with crap that I rarely hear from her but she was just trying to put in for a possible maintenance form of compensation. I do my own maintenance and would just want the truck back and monetary compensation for this nonsense.

I haven't found the part anywhere listed as in stock.

I don’t think it was the wrong part exactly. It was just the wrong part because it probably still didn’t fix whatever issue they caused.

I really think you're right. Those jokers don't seem to have it together

Do you happen to have the repair order with the part number for your TCCM? With this joyous strike I've been told the part is not in stock anywhere in the US and found a few on ebay but don't know if I should even risk it because at the rate this nonsense is going I won't get the truck back until the end of the month if i'm lucky.

So update for everyone, the truck is finally back at home with me after 2 weeks at the dealership. The problem ended up being a really high resistance between the TCM and the Serial data bus. Pins 53 and 54 on the TCM and pins 3 and 4 on the TCCM were really high on resistance.

The dealer informed me that they did not need to install the TCCM (Part number by the way is 86779724) and just needed to address the loose end on the wiring harness between the TCM and TCCM and then the system was able to successfully finish updating all of the components and everything came back to life as normal.
